After a 7on7 football collision ended in brain damage, coaches and officials evaluate the game’s safety

Tasha Jefferson had just talked to her son, Brett Green Jr., on that May 26 afternoon when she was at work and he was between games as a safety for Arlington Lamar.

She had just wished him good luck in his next game of the 7-on-7 state qualifying tournament.

She had just reminded him to hydrate.

She had just put her phone down, only to return a half-hour later to nearly 30 missed calls.

Green had been involved in a collision that left him unconscious and immobile on the field and left Jefferson, upon receiving the news, dizzy with the thought of 7-on-7 football jeopardizing her son’s life.
