Tasha Jefferson had just talked to her son, Brett Green Jr., on that May 26 afternoon when she was at work and he was between games as a safety for Arlington Lamar.
She had just wished him good luck in his next game of the 7-on-7 state qualifying tournament.
She had just reminded him to hydrate.
She had just put her phone down, only to return a half-hour later to nearly 30 missed calls.
Green had been involved in a collision that left him unconscious and immobile on the field and left Jefferson, upon receiving the news, dizzy with the thought of 7-on-7 football jeopardizing her son’s life.
